Airside Liability

Airside means those areas on airport premises restricted to the public and only accessed with permission. These may include aprons, taxiways, the runway, or places beyond security gates at terminal buildings.

What is Airside Liability Insurance?

Airside liability insurance is the coverage provided to contractors, individuals and companies who often tender their services in the restricted or Airside areas of the airports, where most public liability policies exclude their protection.

Why is Airside Insurance needed?

Airside liability is expensive. In fact, most general public liability policies cannot provide even close to the amount airside liability may incur.

Most standard general or public liability policies exclude high-risk locations, including airports and aerodromes. This is why those working inside the airside boundaries need a significantly higher level of public liability coverage, which can be acquired through a separate Airside Insurance policy or as an add-on to the existing insurance policy.

Who is it for?

The airside liability is a specific type of insurance and covers the following while at the airside:

  • Vehicle damages
  • Property damages
  • Body injury

What is NOT covered?

Exclusions of the policy include:

  • Losses from war and associated perils
  • Asbestos
  • Noise and pollution
  • Radioactive contamination
  • Products liability
  • Claims covered under the UK Road Traffic Act
  • Incidents covered by your Employers Liability insurance policy
